Wednesday Webinars

Webinar #1 Financial Aid Updates - October 19, 2016 (Registration) (youtube)

In the first webinar you will learn more about changes to the 2017-2018 FAFSA and WASFA, and the resources available through the 12th Year Campaign. We will also discuss the FAFSA Completion Portal, a WSAC tool that allows schools to view their students' FAFSA completion status.

Webinar #2 College Bound Scholarship Repledge – November 16, 2016 (youtube)

The transition from middle to high school can be challenging, especially for low-income and underrepresented youth. The College Bound Re-pledge campaign, championed and led by the Washington College Access Network, is an opportunity to re-engage College Bound Scholarship ninth grade students in high school and remind them of their commitment. This campaign provides a platform to talk to students around the scholarship’s commitment while also connecting behavior, attendance, and class performance to the larger goal of high school completion, postsecondary enrollment, and a successful career.

Webinar #3 - Implementing the 24-Credit Career- and College-Ready Diploma - December 7 (youtube)

This webinar will address the 24-Credit Career- and College-Ready Diploma and Personalized Pathways high school requirement for students.

Webinar $4 - Dual Credit Updates - January 25 (youtube)

All secondary school counselors are encouraged to sign up for this WSAC-OSPI Dual Credit webinar. During this hour, we will cover a wide variety of topics, including new information about the purpose of dual credit; differences between dual credit, credit equivalencies, 2-for-1 courses and cross-crediting; the types of dual credit and challenges/benefits of each; hot topics such as funding issues, co-delivery and transcripting/coding; legislation updates; and updated resources.  There will be time for specific questions at the end of the webinar.
